A personal trainer helps people exercise. The scope of practice for a personal trainer is to enhance the components of fitness for the general, healthy population.

The 5 classic components of fitness are muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility, although there are other subsets like power, skill, and speed. The general population is defined as an age range of 18 to about 50 (45 and younger for males, 55 and younger for females). The definition of healthy in this context means an absence of a disease that would affect one's ability to exercise.

Anyone outside that scope of practice should be placed in a trainer's scope after a visit to the doctor to see what kind, if any, exercise they are capable of.

Maggie Powers

Maggie is a group fitness instructor and NASM Certified Personal Trainer. Her objective is to help you be fierce-in-your-own-skin on many levels, and knows building a strong foundation is the first step. She embarked on the path to fitness as a dancer, and is currently enjoying a vast array of performance opportunities with Vau de Vire Society, Living Dead Girlz, Sisters of Honk and F’risqué. She has also studied aerial arts at the San Francisco Circus Center.

As a personal trainer, she will work with you diligently and effectively to reach your fitness goals. Maggie's style emphasizes core, stability and strength endurance.

Her ability to listen carefully and tailor programs for people of all fitness levels is the key to her success. And yours. She is also available for private dance lessons - or any combination in between - and firmly believes that sweat is the new black.

Dave’s personal philosophy centers on quality of life and training. He utilizes excercises that compliment your lifestyle and focus on strength, stability and core. Many of his excercises involve body weight training to increase your body weight ratio. Dave is available for private training sessions and he teaches our core training classes. He is commited to helping you attain your ultimate goals—one lunge at a time.
